President Marc Tessier-Lavigne speaks at the podium at 2021 Commencement

To our graduates and their parents, families and friends:

Congratulations! I am pleased to invite you to Stanford University’s Commencement Weekend, June 9 – 12, 2022. This year, we will celebrate the university’s 131st Commencement for the Class of 2022 on Sunday and hold a separate in-person Commencement ceremony for the Class of 2020 on Saturday. Graduates from the Class of 2021, some of whom were not able to join us for last year’s Commencement, are also welcome to attend the Saturday celebration.

This exciting weekend is our opportunity to honor our graduates and their many achievements. It is also a chance to thank their parents, family members and friends for their support and confidence. We look forward to celebrating with you and sharing in the traditions that make Commencement Weekend uniquely Stanford.

Commencement marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of the next. Both for our graduates who have been out in the world for a year or two, as well as for those earning their degrees this spring, I hope the weekend provides a memorable opportunity to celebrate all you achieved at Stanford, and to look with excitement to your path ahead.

Sincerely,

Marc Tessier-Lavigne
