Dear Stanford graduates,

With your Commencement Weekend just a few weeks away, we are writing to share an update on developments and answer questions about this opportunity to gather back on the Farm and celebrate with classmates, friends and family.

Planning to walk in Stanford Stadium?

All graduates who have expressed interest in walking in the Commencement ceremony on Saturday, June 11 will receive an email next week from the Athletics Ticket Office ( This email will contain a link to access your on-field Commencement pass that will be scanned at Gate 12, the graduate lineup location.

Recommendation: For ease of entry, download the pass to your phone. Note that this on-field pass is required only for graduates who are walking in the ceremony. Tickets are not required for family members and other guests attending the ceremony.

Ordered your cap & gown yet?

As a reminder, academic attire is required to participate in many activities – including the ceremony in Stanford Stadium and Baccalaureate in Frost Amphitheater– and is available to rent or purchase from the Stanford Bookstore. Initial deadlines have passed, so order your regalia now!

Here’s where to place your order.

What’s a grad to wear?

For those wondering what to pack, we’ve prepared some suggestions for styles of attire at your ceremonies, Senior Dinner on the Quad and other events, along with a few other tips for the weekend.

Remember: It’s the Bay Area, so be prepared for both cool and hot weather, even on the same day.

What’s happening – and when?

Your weekend officially begins with Baccalaureate and Senior Dinner on the Quad on Friday, continues with the stadium ceremony and President’s Reception on Saturday, and includes school, department and many other celebrations on Saturday and Sunday.

More details are available in the online schedule and will be updated as the time gets closer.

Ready to (Wacky) Walk?

Undergrad alums: The Wacky Walk is happening! Details and guidelines will be shared as the weekend approaches. We can’t wait to see your getups.

Who can come?

Guests are welcome, with no limits and no reservations required for most weekend activities, including Baccalaureate and the Commencement ceremony in Stanford Stadium. Details regarding individual departmental and other ceremonies are available here.

The stadium ceremony will last about two hours (including procession and recession times) and will be held rain or shine. Everyone should expect warm weather and dress accordingly, as the stadium has little to no shade. A livestream in Maples Pavilion will be available for guests who would like to watch from an air-conditioned space.

For those who can’t attend in person, Commencement ceremonies and some other events will be livestreamed and recorded for remote viewing. KZSU, Stanford's radio station, will broadcast the ceremonies live on FM 90.1 and
