For the Senior Class of 2021
This event is open to:
Stanford alum Issa Rae, producer, writer and actress, will be the Commencement Speaker at the Senior Class of 2021 ceremony at Stanford University on Sunday, June 13.
“We asked Issa Rae to be our Commencement speaker because she embodies the courage, strength and resilience that the Class of 2021 has demonstrated not just during this senior year in a pandemic but during our entire Stanford career,” said Class of 2021 Senior Class Presidents Johnathan Bridges, Celine Foster, Virginia Miller, Jordan Oakes and David Pantera, who worked with the President’s Office to select the undergraduate speaker. “Her life journey – a story of immigration, discrimination, passion, activism, determination and success – will be a much-needed and very appreciated inspirational narrative as we begin the next chapter in life. We’re so incredibly lucky and excited to welcome Issa back to Stanford!”
Printed programs will be available at the stadium for each ceremony.
The Track House Lot (Lot 6), located via Galvez Street will be reserved for guests displaying any state-issued or temporary disability parking permit. Individuals with mobility limitations can be dropped off in the Track House Lot near the check-in tent, where folding chairs and a wheelchair shuttle service will be available.
While all gate entrances to the Stadium are accessible, we recommend that guests with mobility limitations use the Gate 4 entrance after checking in at the Track House Lot, as this gate is the closest in proximity to the check-in location.
A limited number of ushers with wheelchairs will be available, beginning at 7:30 a.m., outside Gate 4 of the Stadium to assist in escorting guests with limited mobility into the Stadium. The ushers will drop the guest off near the disability seating and return at the end of the ceremony. No advanced registration is required for this service, and the wheelchair escort service will continue throughout the entire Stadium ceremony.
As seating at the Stadium will be pre-assigned this year to maintain proper distancing, please submit the Request for Disability-Related Accommodations form to inquire about accessible seating options.
